The East Ohio Delegation to the 2022 North Central Jurisdictional Conference is encouraging all voting delegates to move to elect 2 or more bishops (depending on further retirements) at the NCJ Jurisdictional conference to ensure the NCJ has 9 active bishops to help lead us through this time of turmoil.
Recent retirements and the number of mandatory retirements in 2024 could place the jurisdiction in a difficult situation in 2024. The East Ohio delegation is urging all delegations to call for the election of more than one bishop. The NCJ Committee on the Episcopacy, during the called session in the fall of 2021, indicated that only one bishop should be elected in 2022.
